ABOUT

We all have to eat food every single day to stay alive.

That's the obvious part, I know.  But really think about it.  Three meals a day, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks per year...and what's the life expectancy nowadays?  76, 77 years or more?  Let's be optimistic and say 80.  If you do the math, that's 87,360 meals we're talking about here.  Lotsa eating! And that's not even including midnight snacks, secret fridge raids, and double helpings during the holidays!

So, what I'm interested in here is breaking down those 87,360 meals into their little traditions, variations, and basic components...right down to the last pinch of salt.  The daily act of eating is perhaps the most fundamental--yet sublimely diverse--of shared human experiences. Because I love cooking (and eating!) so much, I've started this blog as a way to wrap my mind around it all, and I hope to discover some really tasty treats along the way.  Thank you for reading.
